Sano Success Stories - Zach-Lengenfelder GbR

An absolute all-rounder

The Zach-Legenfelder farm stands out with a top performance

The Zach-LengenfelderGbR farm has been one of the top farms for many years. It is located in the Upper Palatinate, Bavaria. The Holstein cows reach top rakings and the Simmental cows are just as good. They reach a milk yield of 9,756kg with 4.20% fat and 3.56% protein and land on the 8th place.

Status Quo

The Zach-LengenfelderGbR is a typical family-owned farm. The tasks have been clearly divided within the generations: The “seniors” Alfons and Christa Zach are responsible for milking and herd management. Daughter Corinna Lengenfelder takes care of the claves and her husband Dominic Lengenfelder is responsible for the feeding. Even the third generation, the two year-old Jacob Lengenfelder, “assists” enthusiastically.

Trustful teamwork

The collaboration with Sano has been very successful since 2010. Micheal Kohn is the responsible Sano Representative. “It is easy to do business with people you like”, says Alfons Zach. He is very satisfied with Micheal Kohn. Together with Katja Raabe, the head of the area, the farm Zach-Lengenfelder has two very competent people on their side.

More milk

The milk yield of the 70 cows (43 Holstein Frisians and 27 Simmentals) has been increasing for the past years. The Holstein cows constantly produce more than 10,000 kg and the Simmental cows impress with a production of 9,000 kg. This year’s milk yield was reached with a smaller amount of concentrated feed.

Not only had the milk yield improved, also the quality of the milk. The amount of fat is at 4.30 % and the amount of proteins is at 3.40 %; with an excellent number of 160,000 cells.

DMR feeding

Trefoil-grass, lucern, silage maize, barley, wheat and rapeseeds are being cultivated on a 95 hectare landscape. The DMR for the cows contains high quality maize and grass silages as a basic feed. “Excellent basic feed is our main aim”, explains Alfons Zach. “We have been happy for many years with Labacsil® Duo as a silage additive”, adds Dominic Lengenfelder. “Nutritious basic feed is the key to a successful and economical milk production with high milk yields. It has suitable ingredients and ensures a good animal health”, says Katja Raabe. The excellent forages used at the farm help to save on expensive concentrated feed. Thus the DMR only contains 7.5 kg of concentrated feed. Mipro HP 600® ensures a valuable contribution for an optimal feed conversion in the rumen. Sugar and nitrogen compounds improve the nutrient synchronization in the rumen. Stimulating living-yeast promotes the digestion of the feed. The agent complex RumenSAN® supports the feed intake with a good smell, prevents energy losses with a reduced production of methane and influences the microbes in the rumen in a positive way.

Working with the offspring

Corinna Lengenfelder takes care of the offspring and makes the first step on the road for success. The calves love to eat MeggiMüsli®. The high-quality protein sources help to develop vili in the rumen for a good nutrition intake and high daily gains. The young cattle receives Primasan® for the supply of minerals, trace elements and vitamins on a daily basis.

Katja Raabe and Micheal Kohn are grateful for the trust they have been given from the Zach-Lengenfelder family and the successful collaboration. They look forward to many more successful years.
